Synod Meeting for the Catholic Nurses, Vasai
A meeting of representatives of Vasai Catholic Nurses, Towards a Synodal Journey, was held at Jeevan Darshan Kendra, Giriz on Tuesday, 15th March 2022. From 5.00 p.m. to 7.15 p.m. His Grace, Archbishop Felix Machado presided over the meeting. Around 110 catholic nurses from 47 parishes took active part in this synod meeting. Meeting began with the prayer led by team of nurses.
Sr. Mary Chettiar (FHIC) coordinator of Catholic Nurse Guild then extended a warm welcome and gratitude to everyone especially for their willingness and availability to be with the Church by participating in this meeting. On behalf of Catholic nurses Guild Archbishop Felix Machado was felicitated with the floral bouquet. She also expressed the gratitude to the Archbishop for bringing all the nurses on the platform of synod meeting.
Fr. Thomas D’Souza, the Diocesan Convener of the Synod once again welcomed every one. He also introduced the member of the Diocesan Synod Core team. In his brief introduction he explained about the synod and the mind of Pope Francis. Fr. Anil Pereira enlightened the nurses on Participation, Communion and Mission. Then Fr. Thomas D’Souza explained about various questionnaires which need to be discussed in the groups. The present members were divided in to 10 groups and were given 35 minutes to share in their respective groups. Then the secretaries of 10 groups in brief shared to the everyone what was shared in their groups.
His Grace, Archbishop Felix Machado himself had joined in one the groups while sharing was going on. He expressed his joy to meet all the nurses. He said that I am here today to listen to you all. I thanked all the nurses for having come for the meeting in spite of their busy schedule. He acknowledged heroic work of Doctors, Nurses and all those who are involved in medical health during Covid 19 Pandemic, especially in the second wave. The Archbishop said that we should meet often. He then stressed on synodality, which is the fundamental nature of the Church. We always need to walk together, me as a Bishop and you all my people united with Our Pope. The meeting concluded with the Angelus and blessing of the Archbishop.
